Chapter 6 and 7
At the end of chapter 6 when it said, “ It was the last time I saw Junior, my older brother.” When I read this I had to put the book down. I knew that Ishamel would be nothing without his brother, and I felt bad. I felt bad, because Junior was all that Ishmael had and now he is gone too. “I was loosing everyone, my family, my friends.” This quote showed me how much pain and suffering Ishmael was going through. I just wanted to be around him and comfort him because he has no one. After he found Kaloko I was very happy. But then I felt disappointed when he decided to leave and go on his own. I could never walk alone not knowing where I was going or what I would encounter on the way. I cant believe Ishmael did this especially with how young he is. These chapters were hard to read, because it shows you how much this war can break everyone up. “I was glad to see other faces and at the same time, disappointed that the war had destroyed the enjoyment of the very experience of meeting people.”
